Rhododendron ponticum, called Common Rhododendron or Pontic Rhododendron, is a species of Rhododendron native to southern Europe and southwest Asia. In Europe, it occurs in two areas: in Spain and northern Portugal; and in southeast Bulgaria. In Asia its range is: from Turkey, south to Lebanon, and east to Georgia; in the Krasnodar area of southern Russia; in the Himalayas of Asia from Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Northern Pakistan and Kashmir into the Republic of India (Himachal Pradesh).
