General Questions
 
Q. What is Field Grown stock?
A. Field Grown stock is stock, such as some hedging, that is grown in the fields. This stock is supplied ‘bare root’ which means no soil or pot is sent with the plant. They are supplied from October to April, give or take a month or so depending on the seasonal weather, i.e. if the weather is wet and cold we can supply for longer. This is not harmful to the plant at all as they are dormant at this time.
Q. What is the difference between Pot Grown and Field Grown?
A. Field grown stock is stock which is sent without a pot or soil, and can only be planted from Oct – April (depending on the seasonal weather). Field Grown is also the cheaper option. Pot grown stock is supplied in a pot with soil and can be planted in the ground all year round.
Q. How far apart should I plant them?
A. You will need to plant your new trees every 18-24 inches apart for a good hedge. Please download the planting instructions under the product for a full description.
Q. How many conifers/hedging do I need?

Q. Do conifers grow out of control?
A. Yes if you let them. They will need trimming every 18 months to keep them uniform. We advise people to let them get 1ft above the height they require, then trim the tops, this will help them fill out.
Q. Do we need permission to plant conifers?
A. No, but might be nice to consult any neighbours.
Q. What is Pre-order?
A. Pre order is when you can place your order for products which are not ready yet. The items which are marked as pre order are will be ready in Sep/Oct ( Depending on the weather ).  You will be emailed once the item is ready to advise that your order has been dispatched. 
 Q. Do conifers damage buildings or paths?
A. No, but we do advise to plant away from buildings or paths. We have not heard of any case of conifers damaging paths or building in our 50 year history.
Q. How long can I leave the plants in the box when I receive them?
A. We strongly advise removing the plants from the box as soon as possible.
Q. How long can I leave them before I plant them?
A. With the field grown stock ( Bare root ), once removed for the box, if you cant plant them for a while, store them out of the sun keeping the roots wet for upto 2 weeks. Pot grown stock will keep for a few months as long as they are kept wet.
 
Q. My trees are turning brown!
A. When conifers start to turn brown, it could be a couple of things which are the cause, it could be the trees have had prolonged dry spells with not enough water, or prolonged dry winds which are cause the conifers to go brown on one side.
 
Q. What is a hedging conifer?
A hedging conifers can be planted to make a hedge, for privacy or a wind break. Hedging conifers are also know as Leylandii and Lawson, and come in to colours gold or green, green being the most common.
 
Q. I did not get any planting instruction with my order?
A. We no longer send them out, as this helps keep our prices low, you can download from here
Q. Can I come and collect/view the stock at your site?
A. Although we are not open to the public, viewing collection is welcome by appointment only, please contact us to arrange
 
Q. What is your VAT Number?
A. Our UK Registered VAT Number is 984 2627 85
 
Delivery
 
Q. How will my order arrive?
A. If you order online you will be sent an email once we have dispatched your order. Your order will be sent with a courier firm in a sealed box. The order will need to be signed for, unless we have written confirmation to leave the order. (This will be at your own risk)
Q. Do I need to be in to receive my delivery?
A. Yes, unless you have advised the parcel can be left ( This will be at your own risk)
 
Q. Can I have a timed delivery?
A. No, delivery is Monday to Friday, 8.00am-6.00pm, AM/PM can be done but at extra cost.
Q. Can I request delivery for the weekend?
A. Yes, but this is at an extra cost?
 
Q. How much will it cost to delivery to me?
A. Please see delivery policy
 
Ordering
 
Q. My order says pending?
A. This means the order has been received and no payment has been made.
Q. My order says Cancelled, Why?
A. You order will have been cancelled, for a few reasons, I may be a duplicate order, no payment has been received, Payment failure.
 
Q. I want to add/remove some items from my order, how do I do this?
A. You will Need to contact us.
 
Q. I keep getting N/A in the delivery price, Why?
A. This system waits for the postcode to work out the correct cost.
 
Q. I keep getting an error on line
A. pleasecontact us, with the page you were on and the error you are getting
 
Q. Can I order now, and ask for delivery at a later date?
A. Yes, but are unable to give guarantee on the delivery day
 
Q. I cant find the answer to my question?
