Liquidamber Styraciflua
This handsome tree from Eastern USA and Mexico produces fantastic autumn colours of orange,
red and purple. For the best display, grow in full sun, however it will tolerate partial shade.
The common name of sweet gum comes from the resin-like scent that its leaves produce when crushed. Y
oung shoots often have distinctive corky ridges. It makes a beautiful tree for woodland plantings or as a specimen.
These are fully hardy pot Grown Broadleaves.
Once these Broadleaves have made root in the soil you can expect them to grow an average of 2ft per year.
We would advise planting these every 2ft (60cms) to give you a good hedge.
We advise using a support cane & ties for the first 12 months until the conifers have made root in the soil.
We would advise to give the best possible start to use Merediths Plant food, which is a slow release food, and RHS Rootgrow™ Gel to help the broadleaves make better root in the soil.
These broadleaves are supplied in pots, and will need to be signed for.
